Gettysburg Remembrance Day weekend 2013

A great weekend! I'm glad so many of my friends agreed to play along with me in the 1860s; it was a lot of fun.

The only time we got a picture of the whole group was at the ball on Friday night, so here you go:
Besides the bonnets, I didn't really have anything new for the weekend, though I did manage a few bits and pieces, most of which I mentioned here already. I wore the dress of 1000 triangles to the ball Friday, and my grey wool day dress on Saturday, with my oh-so-out-of-date 1840s mantle; thus, did not try very hard to get pictures of myself. But here are some without me!

Friday night ball
Twinsies! Totally by accident...
Shocking!
Left my AquaNet at home, which did not help my hair, especially Friday night while dancing! It was a little better Saturday...when I wore my bonnet 90% of the day. Naturally.

Robin made me a sontag in exchange for her bonnet, which I cheerfully wore all day Sunday with my modern clothes, because it was COLD.
Saturday was also cold, but not COLD like Sunday!

And my bonnets!
Okay, I was finishing Robin's bonnet on the drive up Friday and after the ball...but it was finished, that's all that matters! They're all variations on the Eliza Coretta pattern from Timely Tresses.

Saturday night we went to a theatrical recreation of a Victorian seance at the Farnsworth house, then went back to our cabin and admired the intermittent snow flurries. Cold!

Sunday was spent in civvies (except for aforementioned sontags), and while some of us contemplated a brief battlefield visit, eventually we agreed it was too cold and windy, and headed home after lunch.

I've now got a bit of a break before the next event in mid-December, which I don't need a new outfit for (shocking I know), just fixing up the sleeves on my green and gold 1815 dress. So that means I get a breather! Though it would be wonderfully productive of me if I could maybe do some work on that overflowing bin of UFOs...which is now really overflowing since it includes a bulky paletot, oops.

  4. Steve and I did stop at the battlefields for a very brief visit. We were out of the car for 5 mintues, found one other person to take our photo, and promptly went back into the car!

It was a fun weekend and I look forward to going back!

    1. Heh. Hopefully next year it'll be a little warmer - I really enjoy touring the battlefield but I also really enjoy not freezing and possibly flying off the top of a hill! SO windy!

    1. Thank you! And it *was* quite a unique view...I admit, I really enjoyed being at the back of the group much of the time as we walked round the town; a group of hoops swishing along is such fun to watch!:D
