Regency Winter Outing

For my birthday, I wanted to make Regency winter-wear and have my friends play dress-up with me! I thought a day of running around the historic district of Philadelphia would fit the bill nicely, so that's what we did yesterday.

We visited the Betsy Ross house, Christ Church, Independence Hall, and the Second National Bank portrait gallery. We had lunch at the City Tavern, where the chef/owner Walter Staib was tickled that we'd dressed to come to his restaurant, and gave us complimentary DVDs and Madeira! That is some happy wine.

I wore my new wool dress and spencer, and was quite happy all day in it, except for when my feet got cold waiting for the Independence Hall tour. And for when I was indoors and got too hot!
First outing for my ten-dollar muff, too.

I got to ring a bell that's older than the Liberty Bell, 'cause it was my BIRTHDAY!
Trying to choose what to get at the Tavern...it ALL looks good!
Seriously, I have nothing but good things to say about the City Tavern. It's wonderful!
Shoe shot!
A lovely day! But no rest for the wicked - the Francaise dinner is in three weeks, and I've got sewing to do! Switching gears from the early 19thc a bit, but I've been there for a while so it'll be nice for a change.

    1. Thank you! It really was a lot of fun, and everyone was so nice to play along with my "I want Regency winter-wear for my birthday!" request. I really have started to love the later Regency, with all the silly ruffles and fluffies, though I had some serious doubts about that neck ruffle before the event! ;)

    1. Thank you so much! It's not a very flashy outfit, but it was comfy to wear, and I had all my accessories together, which is a great help with the look. :)
